Annie’s experience
Annie is a Clinical Psychologist who completed her Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Newcastle. Annie has experience working in hospital and public health settings, and she currently shares her time between Lacuna and a not-for-profit where she provides psychological therapy to adults in the community, as well as supporting people in drug and alcohol residential rehabilitation.
Annie has particular clinical interests in emotion dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties, trauma, attachment related concerns, and substance use and addiction difficulties. She has experience providing psychological treatment to people experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions and stressors, voice hearing and associated difficulties, and complex mental health challenges.
Annie’s approach to therapy
Annie has a warm, compassionate, and relational approach to psychological therapy. She believes the therapeutic relationship is important for change, and thus values collaborative therapy and creating a safe, non-judgemental space where people feel heard and understood. Annie had a strong focus on understanding the relationship between past experiences, current patterns, emotions, and relationships. Annie utilises evidence-based treatments, primarily drawing on Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
